"Be Kind to One Another"

Dear Longden Family,

It’s been a cooler week full of good things at Longden, and I’m truly grateful for the milder weather. The change has been such a welcome relief and it has made our busy week feel a little lighter, and more enjoyable for our students.

🍭 On Monday we launched our Trick or Treat candy drive. It’s off to a slow start, but we have complete faith that our Longden families will come through for us, just like you always do!

⛑️ Safety First
This week gave us two  real-life moments to put our emergency procedures into practice. We experienced an unexpected fire alarm, and our students and staff responded with calm and confidence. We also participated in the Great California ShakeOut earthquake drill. Both experiences showed how well our Tigers understand what to do when it matters most.
🤝 ASB is Back!
We’re excited to share that ASB is starting up again! Mrs. Korsavong and Mr. Ying are now accepting applications from responsible students who want to help make Longden an even better place to learn and grow. We can’t wait to see the positive energy our incoming ASB will bring!
🔬 California Science Center
Today it was Ms. Montes, Mr. Liu, and Mr. Nguyen’s students who got to explore, learn, and have fun at the California Science Center. They had a great time participating in the hands-on workshops!
🐯 Tiger Store
Next week the Tiger Store will be open next Tuesday and Wednesday! Ask your children what they exchanged their Tiger Stripes for, and please keep encouraging them to be kind, safe, and responsible. Those positive choices really add up!
🧡 Spirit Assembly & Unity Day
Wednesday’s Spirit Assembly will be hosted by third grade, and we’ll also be celebrating Unity Day. The assembly will be livestreamed, so mark your calendars, you won’t want to miss it!
🚌 Upcoming Field Trip
• Half of our 5th graders will enjoy a walking field trip to the Temple City Library. Students will explore the library, practice research skills, and discover resources that will help them become even stronger learners.

🎉 Lastly, we know you’re just as excited as we are about the upcoming Halloween parade! We’ll share all the details with you as soon as we can. Stay tuned!
Costume Tips:
While some students have their dream costumes planned, others are still deciding what to wear. Here are a few tips to help you design and shop the perfect costume that will be frightful and fun!
🧛 Toy weapons of any kind are not permitted, including nunchucks, throwing stars, guns, swords, lightsabers, etc.
🦇 Costumes must allow students to comfortably write, read, complete classroom assignments, sit properly in a chair, eat, and safely walk up and down stairs.
🕷️ Costumes must not be offensive to any ethnic or religious group or promote violence or terrorist organizations.
🎃 Costumes must be appropriate for an elementary school setting and should not be revealing or adult-like.
All students are invited to participate in the parade. Wearing a costume is optional, and students are not required to walk with their friends.
⚠️ Costume Safety: Please make sure costumes are safe for movement and do not block vision. Avoid long trailing pieces, oversized masks that limit sight, or anything that could cause tripping hazards.
All students are invited to participate in the parade. Wearing a costume is completely optional, and students are not required to walk with their friends.
