Hello Longden Families,
We’re just three school days away from the start of summer break, and there’s so much to look forward to as we wrap up an amazing school year!
Please remember that there will be no school this Monday in observance of Memorial Day as we honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.
Thursday is our last day of school and will be a minimum day. Please plan accordingly and double-check with your child’s after-school program for any schedule adjustments.
Here are some highlights from the exciting events that took place on campus:
🏀 PBIS Students vs. Staff Basketball Game
Longden students had a blast taking on staff in an epic basketball showdown! The game was filled with excitement, teamwork, and school spirit as we celebrated sportsmanship, positive behavior, and our strong school community.
🐯 Tiger Store
The Tiger Store opened for its final two days of the school year, and we are extremely proud of our Tigers and the incredible number of Stripes earned and redeemed throughout the year! Thank you for continuing to demonstrate outstanding positive behavior and school spirit. We can’t wait to reopen the Tiger Store next school year!
🎉 Spirit Assembly
Our Kindergarten students did a wonderful job leading our final Spirit Assembly as we celebrated the character trait of Fairness.
We proudly recognized students in Grades 1–6 who consistently demonstrate fairness and kindness each day. We also cheered on our basketball stars for their energy and sportsmanship during the Students vs. Staff game, celebrated our Science Olympiad team for winning gold, and honored students who successfully reclassified out of the ELD program.
🌟 Reclassification Recognition Celebration
On Wednesday, we celebrated two special groups of students at our last spirit assembly of the year. We first recognized our students who reclassified out of the English Language Development ("ELD") program. These students came to Longden speaking a language other than English but by their own hard work and the support of our dedicated teachers, they were able to reclassify as fluent English speakers, listeners, readers, and writers. We then showed our appreciation for our student translators who help their non-English speaking classmates navigate our campus and their classes. They truly are the unsung heroes on our campus and we thank them for creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone at Longden.
🥇🥈🏅 Junior Olympics
Our 4th–6th grade students had an amazing time participating in this year’s Junior Olympics! They gave their best effort in both individual and team events while cheering each other on through every event.
🥧 PBIS Pie the Principal!
We wrapped up the week with the legendary PBIS Pie the Principal event–and it was a total blast! Students lined up for their chance to pie the principal, and almost every throw was a direct hit. 😊 It was messy, loud, and filled with laughter.
