🐯Hello, Longden Families.

We had another fantastic week of learning at Longden!

Longden is fortunate to have an exceptional group of teachers who inspire and make learning both fun and interactive. In Mrs. Lam's 6th-grade class, students worked as teams on an engaging hands-on project where they used their creativity and a variety of materials—including styrofoam, vibrant paints, thumbtacks, and other craft supplies—to recreate the layers of our remarkable planet, Earth. This project not only allowed them to deepen their understanding of geology and the planet's structure but also encouraged teamwork and artistic expression. The students do a fantastic job of sharing their ideas and discoveries! Check out the videos that highlight their projects and explanations.

📚 Our library is fully open for business, and this past week was particularly buzzing with activity. Excited students streamed in throughout the day, exploring shelves and discovering new books to check out. It was so wonderful to see so many young readers getting excited about books and discovering a love for reading!

A big thank you to everyone who has shopped our Tiger Store Amazon Wish List! Your support is helping us reach our goal of Platinum status, and we couldn’t do it without you. If you know anyone who might want to help make a difference in our community, please share this link with them. We truly appreciate it!

A reminder: Monday is the final day to cast your vote for the SSC election. Your involvement really makes a difference. Click here to vote for up to four candidates..

We have another exciting week planned for next week. Here's a quick sneak peek of the fun activities we’ve lined up:
  • 🐻🎂🎉Fourth grade is celebrating California's 175th birthday with a fantastic birthday bash! 🎉 We can't wait to share pictures of all the exciting festivities that our amazing 4th-grade teachers, Ms Dorazio, Mrs Medina, Mrs Vasquez, and Mr Turner have planned. Stay tuned for some great memories!
  • 🎉📚 We’re super excited to share that PTA Birthday Books are back and ready to distribute books on Friday! A big shoutout to our fantastic PTA for making sure every student gets a special book to celebrate their birthday month. 🎉📚

🔔👉We need your assistance! Clothing must not disrupt school activities or compromise student safety. Open-toed shoes, sandals, flip-flops, slippers, shoes with wheels, Crocs, and similar footwear are not allowed. If a student's shoes cannot be worn during recess or physical education (PE), they should not be worn to school. Students wearing any of these types of footwear will be sent to the office, and their parents will be contacted. They will remain in the office until safe footwear is provided.

🥵 Please continue sending your children to school with plenty of water, some light and breathable clothing, and sunscreen to keep them protected. Also, please pick them up on

Suicide Prevention Awareness Month

September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month

This month, we are focusing on a cause very dear to our hearts: supporting children and teenagers who may be experiencing thoughts of suicide. We know that behind every statistic is a real person—a loved one, a friend, or an entire community profoundly impacted by this struggle.

We understand that discussing suicide prevention is not just a matter for one month; it's a continuous journey that calls for our compassion, connection, and collaboration. We recognize that these conversations can be difficult and may stir up a mix of emotions. It’s so important to foster a warm and supportive environment where we can openly discuss these feelings. Here are some gentle ways to begin talking with your kids about this sensitive issue:
🗣️ Check-in: Ask your kids how they're really feeling.
👂 Listen: Be present without judgment. Often, what they need most is someone to listen.
💜 Share: Familiarize yourself and your teen with available mental health support services. Knowing where to turn for help is vital.

Call or text 988 to seek help from your nearest crisis center. 988 Lifeline is a 24-hour, free, and confidential suicide prevention hotline available to anyone in suicidal crisis or emotional distress. You can also visithttps://apa.org/topics/suicide to learn the warning signs and risk factors and how to support youth considering suicide.

PBIS
PBIS
Longden proudly shines as a recipient of the California PBIS Gold Recognition Award. With your help, we aim even higher as we strive for Platinum status!
What is PBIS?
PBIS is a proactive schoolwide framework emphasizing a consistent and positive culture, prioritizing prevention and positive reinforcement over reaction and punishment. At Longden, we expect our students and staff to embody our Tiger Code - be Kind, Safe, and Responsible. We acknowledge students who uphold Longden's Tiger Code and believe that all students deserve support in their journey toward becoming responsible and successful citizens.
How can you help?
We use positive reinforcement to encourage our students to be Kind, Safe, and Responsible. When students meet our expectations, they can earn Tiger Stripes, which they can redeem for incentives from our Tiger Store, run by our wonderful counselors, Ms. Kathy Betts & Mr. Danny Ramirez. If you would like to help, please consider purchasing items from the Tiger Store Amazon Wish List. You can browse & purchase from our wish list by clicking the button below.

Food Allergies

Food Allergies

We need your support regarding the sharing of food or drinks.
The rise in food allergies among children means that even the tiniest exposure to allergens could be potentially severe or life-threatening. This year, we've seen an increase in students with various food allergies. Ensuring a safe environment for all students is more crucial than ever.
Here's how you can help make Longden safer for all students:
  • Please remind your child never to share their food and drinks with other students.
  • Please remind your child never to eat or drink anything offered to them by others.
  • Please remind your child to wash their hands before and after eating.
Your support for children with allergies is extremely valuable. Together, we can make a real difference and ensure the safety and well-being of all our students.
